All of our EPA Asbestos Accreditation Courses are taught in cooperation with Amarillo College and approved by Texas D.S.H.S. and Louisiana D.E.Q. We are also approved to teach the Arkansas Regulatory Awareness 2-hr Course. For more information on a particular course, please call or email us. Project Designer (3 days / 24 hrs) / Refresher (1 day / 8 hrs)

This comprehensive course provides instruction designed specifically for asbestos abatement project designers seeking accreditation as required by federal regulations. The course is based on the EPA Model Accreditation Plan requirements and is fully approved by the EPA through the Texas DSHS and Louisiana DEQ. The Project Design course is required by the Texas DSHS for licensing of Asbestos consultants, and required by the EPA for response action design in public, commercial and industrial buildings.


Building Inspectors (3 days / 24hrs) / Refresher (1/2 day / 4 hrs)

This course is designed for building inspectors and consultants who must identify and assess the condition of asbestos containing materials. Students are given current, concise and relevant information presented during the classroom lectures, as well as a field trip where students do a “mock” inspection of a school building. The course in based on the EPA’s Model accreditation Plan, and meets federal accreditation requirements (40 CFR 763 Appendix C).


Management Planners (2 days / 16hrs) / Refresher (1/2 day / 4 hrs)

Prerequisite: Building Inspector Course This course is for management planners and other professionals who determine appropriate response actions, assess ACM hazards, develop operations and maintenance programs, and develop schedules for response action implementation.


Workers (4 days / 32hrs) / Refresher (1 day / 8 hrs)

This course is for workers who disturb asbestos during removal, encapsulation, enclosure or repair, or who may be exposed to asbestos in the course of their work. Currently accepted work practices and techniques are emphasized. Students gain actual hands-on experience when constructing a decontamination unit, perform glove bag operations, and creating a negative pressure enclosure.


Supervisors / Contractors (5 days / 40hrs) / Refresher (1 day / 8 hrs)

This course is designed for contractors and supervisors involved in asbestos abatement and for those who desire information or certification in dealing with asbestos abatement projects. The course meets the training requirements for licensing as an Abatement Supervisor and Operations and Maintenance Supervisor. This course satisfies OSHA competent person training requirements. Students gain actual hands-on experience when constructing a decontamination unit, perform glove bag operations, and creating a negative pressure enclosure.


Texas Asbestos Law (3hrs)

This course is for people who are applying for a Texas License and are submitting an out of state asbestos training certificate. Taught on a contracted basis only.


Asbestos Awareness Seminar (2 - 8 hrs)

This course is for general awareness of the hazards of asbestos exposure and the presence of ACM in a facility and is tailored to the building owners and facility managers to train custodial and maintenance workers who must work around asbestos in buildings and other facilities.

Arkansas Regulatory Awareness (2hrs)

The course is required for people who are applying for a Arkansas license and are submitting a Texas or other state certification. This course is taught in conjunction with other regularly scheduled courses on a contracted basis.

Louisiana Asbestos Law (2hrs)

The course is required for people who are applying for a Louisiana license and are submitting a Texas or other state certification. This course is taught in conjunction with other regularly scheduled courses on a contracted basis.

Air Monitoring Technician Training Course (3 days / 24hrs)
/ Refresher (1/2 day / 4 hrs))

Students will learn general air sampling techniques for safety and health air monitoring. Individuals who conduct or who are responsible for industrial hygiene and environmental air monitoring and who conduct area and personal air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects in schools, public buildings, and industrial facilities will find the course beneficial. The course meets the requirements of the Texas Asbestos Health Protection Act, and the Texas Asbestos Model Accreditation Plan.

Airborne Asbestos Sampling and Laboratory Analysis (NIOSH 582E Training Course)

This course covers the techniques used to sample and analyze airborne fibers. It is structured to meet the needs of people who are responsible for analyzing airborne asbestos samples. Students will learn to collect and analyze asbestos samples for personal and area monitoring using the NIOSH 7400 Method for phase contrast microscopy.

Asbestos Operation and Maintenance (8/16 hrs)

Asbestos OSHA Class II Worker (8hrs)

This is an OSHA Compliance training course for the removal of non-friable material (29 CFR 1926.1101) including asbestos containing roofing materials, flooring material, siding materials, ceiling tiles, or transite panels. The training includes classroom instruction and hands-on training and will include the following subjects:

  • Methods of recognizing asbestos
  • Health effects associated with asbestos exposure, and its relationship with smoking
  • Operations, work practices, controls, applicable regulations
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Waste disposal
  • OSHA requirements

In Texas, this course does not apply to licensing in public buildings.

Professional Environmental Training

Asbestos fibers can cause serious health problems. If inhaled, they can cause diseases which disrupt the normal functioning of the lungs. Asbestos fibers have the capacity to add tensile strength, resistance to fire and corrosion when add to construction material.
